Breeding, training, and showing German Pinschers is more than a hobby for me. It is a passion and a labor of love. I have spent years of research to find the German Pinscher which not only meets the written standard of the breed, but passes health tests, like C.E.R.F. eye-normal, hips X-rayed & O.F.A.'d excellent or good, and VonWildebrands clear (no canine-hemophelia).
I have bred Miniature and German Pinschers for the last ten years, and have raised, trained, shown, and "finished" dozens of dogs, many of which have multiple titles with several Kennel Club registries (ie: American Kennel Club, American Rare Breed Association, United Kennel Club, States Kennel Club, World Wide Kennel Club, AND International Champions.) In the last five years, 10 dogs earned their AKC Canine Good Citizen titles for their "obedient" behavior in public. When in conformation shows, the German Pinscher is shown in the Working Group, and they thrive on "working" for their owner. Many also earn obedience and agility titles, are "Therapy" Dogs, and are being trained for Search and Rescue (SAR).
Even if the dog meets the requirements for being a conformationally correct German Pinscher, he or she may never gain the coveted title of Champion. Being very intelligent yet people oriented, the German Pinscher is perfect for the person who wants a house dog or athletic companion. It should, however, always be the kind of companion it was originally bred to be: a loyal guard of family and their property (don't forget, it was originally a vermin killer).
